Xochicalco - Cuernavaca

Description

Xochicalco, "place of the house of flowers", archaeological site inscribed as World Heritage by UNESCO. It was pre-Hispanic headquarters of the meeting of priests of Mesoamerica to realize a calendrical adjustment, which is expressed in the walls of the pyramid of Quetzalcoatl or of the feathered serpents. In the zone was a stylized figure in the form of a macaw, similar to those of Copán. It has an underground astronomical observatory prehispanic, through which a beam of light passes during the changes of season. The site museum shows us the crescent moon that symbolizes Venus, the Lord of Red, the Lord of the Serpents, among others.

Tepoztlán is an energetic population, where the mystic-esoteric community has been combined, there are several holistic SPA Hotels, temazcales, shamans, healers, in an environment dominated by the Tepozteco hill, which has a small archeological zone dating from 1,150 and 1,350, of exhausting access by the escarpado of the mountain. At its feet is the valley where this peculiar society has been established. Tepoztlán has been cataloged as Pueblo Magico for its architectural and costumbristas characteristics.

Among other attractions is the former Dominican convent of the Nativity, built in the sixteenth century and inscribed as a World Heritage before UNESCO. The museum of pre-Hispanic art Carlos Pellicer and the Tianguis of handicrafts. Nearby is the mythical village of Amatlan, where it is said that Ce Acatl Topiltzin Quetzalcoatl was born.
