Description

Walk through the first steps of Cortes in Veracruz!

Get to know the first city founded in Veracruz, La Antigua, where the house of the conquistador Hernán Cortes is located and where we will take a tour to see its interior. After visiting this place, we will visit the archaeological zone of Cempoala, a Totonac city 1 hour from Veracruz that you will undoubtedly love. Lastly, we will visit Quiahuiztlan, a unique Totonac culture cemetery in the state.

Itinerary

8:00 a.m. Pick up at your Hotel. On the way to Quiahuiztlán, we will admire panoramic views of wonderful natural landscapes, while enjoying a comfortable unit with reclining seats and air conditioning.

10:00 am Guided tour in Quiahuiztlan lasting an hour and a half, located on the slopes of a volcanic stone hill on the gulf coast of the state of Veracruz. You will also be able to observe that there are remains of pyramids and a ball game from where you can see a splendid panoramic view of the beaches of Villa Rica in the Gulf of Mexico and La Mancha lagoon.

12:00 pm: Visit and tour in the archaeological zone in Cempoala. Then, you will travel to Cempoala, one of the most important archaeological zones in the state of Veracruz. The buildings of that site have an architectural beauty that is worth admiring, such as the Temple of the Sun or Great Pyramid, which resembles the temple of the sun in Tenochtitlán; and Las Caritas, whose name comes from the hundreds of stucco skulls that adorned a small structure at the base of the temple's stairs.

1:40 pm: Visit to the house of Hernán Cortes in La Antigua. You will visit the town of La Antigua, the place where the first town hall of New Spain was established. Here you can visit the Casa del Cabildo and the Ermita del Rosario, built in 1523, the house of Hernán Cortés and the ceiba tree where it is said that the Spanish moored their ships.

2:40 pm: Time to eat.

4:00 pm Return to Veracruz.
